Abstract
Renewable energy and farming are a winning combination. Agriculture plays an important role in the life of economy. Among various crops, turmeric plays a major role. During manual planting, the labour has to dig the soil. In current technology, semi-automatic machine is used which leads to air and noise pollution due to emission of greenhouse gases. The main intention of this project is to develop a solar powered fully automatic dual row turmeric planting machine by using IoT without the need of labours and tractors. This helps the farmers to reduce cost and time. To develop the uniformity in placement and distribution of seed along rows, this machine is used; it also monitors the soil temperature, humidity and obstacles while planting and ample of seeds in the seed drum using wired/wireless sensors and controllers. The important goal is to increase planting efficiency and to reduce drudgery in the work. By using a mobile phone with internet connection farmers can operate and control the machine automatically and flexible. The main feature of this model is 70% saving in cost and 90% saving in time. In this machine, a Raspberry Pi 2 controller is used to operate the planting machine automatically. At last, the main motto is to make friendly equipment both for farmers and to our ecosystem because the cost for labours and fuels are completely reduced. Noise pollution and the emission of CO2, CO and HC by using tractors are completely ignored; and it also completely paves way for the use of green energy because the main source of this machine is from a solar panel and it completely operates from solar energy. In the future, a single farmer can sow his land individually and independently.
