Embedding and Extraction of Watermark in Digital Audio

Rahul Palaria, Sandeep Kumar Budhanni

Abstract

Abstract

Digital Watermarking, a discipline of steganography, is used to hide within an image or audio file some data specifically relating to that file. An enormous amount of work has been carried out in the field of Image Watermarking. Due to the increasing incidents of audio piracy and illegal retrieval of audio files over the internet, the field of audio watermarking has widespread attention from industry and researchers. In this paper, a watermarking system is proposed. The proposed system that makes use of spread spectrum technique. The system consists of two algorithms, one for embedding watermark in the audio file and the other for the extraction of embedded watermark from the audio file. MATLAB R2010a has been used as the implementation platform. The performance evaluation of the proposed watermarking algorithms is assessed by using peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) and the correlation measures.
