Abstract

ABSTRACT 

 “You can have security and not have privacy, but you cannot have privacy without security.” – Tim Mather Data security is the means of ensuring that data is kept safe from corruption and that access to it is suitably controlled. Thus, data security helps to ensure privacy. It also helps in protecting personal data. This study deals with the basic definition of data protection, different methods of data protection, privacy issue in Indian perspective with respect to challenges in three different dimensions like legal, technical and political domains. It then provides an integrated framework for data security and data protection strategies by examining the available ones and proposing a new enhanced one.
