Abstract

Abstract

Internet has become low cost communications architecture and it has brought great convenience to people’s work and lives with development of the network technology. A client side machine may become a target or a staging point for an attack from within the connecting network. An attacker could exploit bugs or misconfiguration in a client side machine or use other types of hacking tools for an attack and get the confidential information of client side machine. Security becomes a major issue when employees have constant access to internal networks from insecure external locations. Internet users can secure their information and transactions with VPN (Virtual Private Network). VPN carries controlled information, protected by different mechanism of security, between known networks. Employees need to connect the Internet from home, hotels, airports or from other external networks to internal private networks. VPN allows users to establish a virtual private “tunnel” to securely enter an internal network, accessing resources, data and communications via an insecure network such as the Internet by providing a way of protecting information being transmitted over the Internet.
