Review and Analyze Low Cross Polarized Feed for Offset Parabolic Reflector Antenna for S-Band Application
Keywords:
Corrugated horn antenna, cross polarization, mode converter, offset parabolic reflectorAbstract
This study discusses the design of low cross polarized feed for offset parabolic reflector antenna and its application. Conical corrugated horn antenna consists of an input mode TE11 and the corrugation part requires a transition to HE11 mode for propagation. The paper presents the widely used design of TE11-HE11 mode converter i.e. Variable slot mode converter. Three different design of corrugated horn antenna is presented for optimizing the value of cross polarization. The choice of the delta is the most important parameter for optimizing the value of cross polarization. The value of f/D is chosen 0.4 for offset parabolic reflector antenna. This design also provides high gain, good beam symmetry, and high bandwidth performance.
