Comparative Analysis of Distributed Energy Efficient Clustering Protocols in Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Network

Gurwinder Kaur, Diksha Rani

Abstract

Wireless Sensor Networks have huge applications in the area of military, health and infrastructure protection etc. The various features of WSN such as dynamic topology, application specific and self configurable made it to be application to vast areas, but a limitation is also there which is power constraint nature of WSNs. There evolved many transmission approached to estimate cost of energy consumption in WSNs, out of which cluster based scheme proven to be most accurate. Many researchers have been working on designing a protocol which should be energy effective and proven to be most energy efficient clustering protocol for Wireless sensor networks. This paper focuses on comparative analysis of some energy efficient clustering protocols: DEEC, DDEEC, EDEEC, TDEEC, EDDEEC, iEDDEEC. Simulation results show the efficiency of these protocols for parameters such as energy dissipation, type of first node dead, throughput, network lifetime, network stability.
