Home Automation and Security using Advanced Communication Technologies
Abstract
Demand for automation and security is increasing day by day due to change in social structure from combined to nuclear family. This study presents a low cost, highly flexible and easy to use automation and security system. By using GSM (Global System for Mobile) module along with microcontroller, home appliances can be controlled from anywhere outside. RFID (Radio-frequency identification), GSM and Bluetooth are the communication devices which can be controlled using our smartphone. In this circuit, PIR (Passive Infrared Sensor) is used to detect an intruder, and by using GSM module, this intrusion could be notified to the owner of the house and he can take further actions to protect the house from getting vandalized. This system also produces alarm sound to warn the neighbors about intrusion. This automation system can also be used by physically disabled and elderly people.
