LEACH: INNOVATIVE TECHNIQUE FOR WSNs

Abhilash Shokeen, Nitin Kumar

Abstract

Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) is a protocol as energy efficient and hierarchical-based. Its applications WSNs is increasing day after day. Sensor networks have sensors with function of finding conditions to monitor environmental conditions like humidity, pressure etc. Wireless sensor networks are characterised by less power consumption, fast in handling node failures, isolation of nodes from one another. Sensor networks has wide application region monitoring, event tracking, fire detection, traffic monitoring etc. On the basis of routing protocols, they can be classified on the basis of network structure, route from source to destination and protocol operations. These protocols are sensitive in working so they are prone to many attacks. This paper is based on study of challenges in routing protocols, LEACH protocol, its working, assumption for LEACH and variations in LEACH protocol.
